These shoes are very comfortable, and I love that they are skid-resistant. I was worried that they would look a little “geriatric” (sorry mom and dad), but they don’t. They feel very stable but not inflexible or rigid. Good arch support and keeps my foot and ankle from pronating inward. I have a pair of their sneakers, and they are the only thing that stops pain from plantar, so I’m excited about these sandals. They feel as good as the sneakers do. I’m a size 8, and the eight is a little loose (probably would work fine for a 8 1/2 as well), but fits comfortable. I have narrow to average feet, and the width is perfect; however the sides look like they would acoomodate a wider foot if needed.

Orthaheel Julie Sandal, May 13, 2013

I ordered the Julie hoping to wear it as a sort of dressy sandal. I have had great success with being able to walk nearly pain free with my other Orthaheel shoes (plantar faciitis). This sandal however seems to me to have a very thin sole with the heel just not thick enough to give support. Also, the toe post didn’t seem long enough and allowed the decorations on the strap to rub the top of the toes. I returned them immediately and ordered a pair of Muir’s which I can’t say enough good things about. They are wonderful for my feet. Not as attractive maybe as the Julie but look better on than the picture. Being able to walk pain free is wonderful. Amazon was amazingly fast to refund me for the Julie’s without question.

    Julie sandal, pretty but…, May 31, 2013

This review is from: Orthaheel Women Julie Slingback Sandals (Apparel)

I ordered this sandal directly from Orthaheel’s website. I tried twice to leave a review there, but I’m guessing that since my review was less than positive, it didn’t get published on their site. I bought this shoe for a special occasion. When it came, it looked just like the picture, pretty. But when I tried it on, it was too big. The length was good (they tell you to buy a half size down) but it was too “high” and so it was too lose. I had to ship them back (they dont pay for return shipping). And then today, I saw that they didn’t give my my full refund. They took off about $7. I don’t know why, maybe this is a restocking fee. Well, it cost me $11 to send the shoes back to them, plus another $7 they didn’t refund me? It cost me $18 just to try these shoes on. No thank you. I will not be buying from Orthaheel again, unless I find them in a store where I can try them on.

Best shoes I’ve ever owned., July 6, 2008

I bought these for a 2-week trip to Israel. I live in Croatia and was meeting my friends from the US there. Since prices in Europe are typically higher (I found the same shoes for 99 Euros or $160 here), I ordered them online for my friend to bring to Israel for me. It was a risk since I never owned a pair of Keens before, but needed new hiking shoes. Initially, I didn’t like the looks of them – they are bulky and wide, but I had no other alternative. I did like that they are leather AND waterproof.

I wore them for the first time in Israel right before a hike of several miles and my feet never felt more comfortable. I didn’t need to break them in. They were perfect straight out of the box. I toured all over the Holy Land (up and down mountains, through rivers and waterfalls, etc.) all day for 10 days in these and they did not disappoint. In fact, when I went back to our hotel and took these off was the only time my feet felt pain. When I put them back on, my feet were fine again.

I toured one day with my Nike running shoes and my feet hurt by the end of the day. That was the last time I didn’t wear my Keens. Amazing! I’ve never reviewed apparel on Amazon before, but I thought I have to write about this because these shoes are the best I’ve ever owned. I hope Keens will come up with more feminine styles because I’m sure these will not be my first pair.

It is recommended that you order a half-size larger than your usual size. I tried on the 7.5 in Europe and they felt small, so ordered an 8. And, like I said, they were perfect.

The product is rugged and sturdy. Love the brown leather and aqua accents and comfortable doesn’t begin to describe how good these feel. They’re good in water and stay on better than my old tevas. Great for hiking and cooler than hiking shoes. The problem is with pebbles. I bought these specifically for the pebbly beaches and hiking in Greece but have decided not to bring them because of that issue. The pebbles get in but you have to take the shoe off to get them out. Overall, love them and Backcountry shipped them “wicked fast”!

This sandal (Venice Keen) is the best of all their models because of the leather sole. It doesn’t get hot and you can wash them very easily. I have 6 pairs!
